1969 Mercedes-Benz 280SL

SOLD

This 1969 Mercedes-Benz 280SL is perfect for a new owner that's looking for a well cared for classic car, that’s ready to be enjoyed immediately. Purchased by the current owner in 2013, it’s been maintained to the highest standard to ensure it’s a reliable continental cruiser.

History is important when it comes to classic cars and this one has extensive documented history from “day one”. A period suitcase in the boot is full of records that make fascinating reading. Maintenance invoices over 53 years, the original owners book pack and folder and a maintenance book for the DIY mechanic. This is a special Pagoda.

The exterior is finished in Light Ivory (670H) paintwork which is in excellent condition with a deep gloss finish all round. A new soft top has been fitted and a hardtop is available for winter motoring. The engine fires up instantly from hot or cold and idles as it should. On the open road the automatic gearbox moves between gears effortlessly and easily keeps up with modern traffic and the suspension soaks up all that the Irish roads might throw at it.

The front seats are upholstered in black leather with grey/black matching carpets and a contrasting black upper dash and steering wheel. The wood trims on the dashboard were restored recently and are in perfect condition. In the boot you’ll find a matching spare wheel and tyre and a complete tool kit.

The black two spoke steering wheel has been wrapped in leather to provide more grip but can easily revert to the original. It currently has 133,000 miles on the clock and all gauges for coolant temperature, fuel level, oil pressure, read correctly.

The underside, engine bay and unseen areas of this W113 are in remarkable condition with no evidence of age-related corrosion. This car has clearly led a sheltered life and should not be confused with so many tired cars on the market.
