1976 Rolls Royce Silver Shadow 1

SOLD

This exceptionally good Rolls Royce Shadow 1 was delivered to its first owner in 1976 at a cost of £14,640.46p which in today's terms, is just over €140,000. It was the world's best car when new and today it’s still very, very special.

The exterior is painted in original Silver Sand Metallic with a red coach line. The paintwork is in fabulous condition with a deep shine and no evidence of corrosion. In 2012 the wheel arches were replaced (a known weak point) and the car was treated to a repaint.  In 2016 new front and rear bumpers were fitted and all other bright work is in lovely condition. New Continental tyres are fitted on all four wheels.

The interior upholstery is Red Connolly hide which is in wonderful condition, full of colour and still supple.  New red carpets are fitted with sheepskin over mats in the rear. The wood trim is in good condition and all interior electrics operate correctly.

Between 2021 and 2022 the entire brake and fuel system was overhauled at a cost of €11,000 and a major service was also carried out. The current owner uses the car for long distance touring so reliability was absolutely essential.

Turn the ignition key and the engine fires immediately and settles to a near silent idle. Select drive and as you pull away the “magic carpet ride” really does soak up every imperfection. Performance is “adequate” and you can be guaranteed it will turn heads.

This Shadow is “ready to go”.
