This 1999 Mercedes-Benz 280SL is finished in Aquamarine Blue (341) with Grey Nappa Leather (238) and is powered by a 2.8-litre M112 V6 engine. Equipment includes a panoramic glass hardtop, an electric soft top roof, automatic climate control, power-adjustable front seats, cruise control, automatic aerial, and five spoke 17” alloy wheels. The Aquamarine paintwork is in excellent condition with deep gloss finish, even panel gaps all round and almost no perceivable age related marks. The Panoramic hardtop is a wonderful option to have and makes the interior a bright and airy place to be. The soft top is navy and works perfectly with an easy movement. The correct factory 17″ alloy wheels are fitted and wear a matching set of Federal tyres measuring 245/45/ZR17 on all four corners.

 

The power-adjustable front seats are upholstered in Grey Nappa leather (238) with light grey matching carpets and a complimentary darker grey upper dash. The steering wheel is a combination of leather and wood. Walnut veneers accent the dashboard, centre console, and door panels. Interior comforts include electric windows and wing mirrors, illuminated sun visors, central locking, cruise control, and automatic climate control.

 

The airbag-equipped steering wheel frames a 160-mph speedometer and a 6k-rpm rev counter with an integrated clock, along with gauges for coolant temperature, fuel level, oil pressure, and instant fuel economy. All digital elements of the display work correctly and the six-digit odometer shows 90,300 miles.

 

The 2.8 litre M112 V6 engine was factory rated at 201 horsepower and 204 lb-ft of torque. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a five-speed automatic transmission. The car has been correctly serviced throughout its life with a fully stamped service book.

 

The underside, engine bay and unseen areas of this W126 are in remarkable condition with little or no evidence of age related corrosion, in fact the factory applied wax protection is still visible. This car has clearly led a sheltered life and should not be confused with so many tired cars on the market.

 

The Mercedes SL is legendary and the R129 still represents fantastic value for money. It’s one of the best built, usable and easily maintained models built by Daimler Benz and parts availability is excellent.
